Long Island parks, answered

Which Long Island parks have splash pads?

Set the amenity filter to Splash Pad and you will get every park in the directory tagged with one. They are a Nassau and Suffolk summer staple and generally run from late spring into September. Most park listings also note what else is on site, so you can see whether you are getting a playground and restrooms with it.

Are Long Island parks free?

Town and county parks and playgrounds are free to walk into. Beaches are where it gets local: many town beaches want a resident permit or charge for parking in summer, and the state parks charge a seasonal vehicle fee. Worth checking the park's own site before a July Saturday.

Where can we take a toddler?

Filter by age to pull up the parks with playgrounds built for little ones. If you want somewhere you can let go of a hand, filter on the Fenced Playground amenity. Nature preserves and beaches are in here too, for when you would rather trade the swing set for a flat, stroller-friendly trail.
