Gateway's Haunted Playhouse is the walk-through haunted house run by The Gateway, the professional theater in Bellport. Each year brings a new theme, path and characters, played by dozens of trained actors; 2026's story follows the descendants of a Bellport whaler who could see the future. New this year is Mr. Tickles 3-D Funhouse, a separate blacklight funhouse you walk through in 3-D glasses. The haunt is open Fridays and Saturdays from September 25 to October 31, Sundays from October 4 to November 1, and Wednesdays and Thursdays from October 8 to 29, opening at 7 PM. Some nights have themes, including a zombie night, a clown invasion and a glow stick night. While you wait, the Midway has food, a shooting gallery, a coffin ride and a gift shop. The organizer recommends the haunt for ages 13 and older. Actors will not touch guests, everyone passes through a metal detector, and bags and backpacks are not allowed. Younger kids can try the daytime Not So Scary Adventure on October weekend afternoons.
