Section 01

The Short Version

Free for families. Ranking is never sold. Sponsors are always labeled.

LI Playbook costs nothing to use, and it will stay that way: no paywall, no email wall, no account required to browse. The site is run by one Long Island parent, and some of the cost of keeping it accurate is covered by sponsors and by businesses that choose to support the listings they appear in. This page explains exactly what that support can and cannot buy.

Section 02

Ranking Is Never Sold

Nothing a venue, camp, league or sponsor can pay for changes which listings appear, where a listing sits in a grid, how search results are ordered, or which places a town page or a guide picks. Specifically:

  • Listing grids, search results, the map, and the town and county pages are ordered by relevance to your filters and by editorial fit for families. Money is not an input.
  • Guide picks and the notes beside them are editorial. A sponsor can present a guide (see below); a sponsor cannot add, remove or reorder what the guide recommends.
  • The editorial description, category tags, town and map location of every listing stay ours. They pass the same verification checks whether or not the business supports the site, and a listing that fails those checks comes down regardless of who is paying.
  • Reviews cannot be bought, edited or removed by the business they describe.
Section 03

Sponsors Are Always Labeled

The rule for anything a sponsor or partner pays for: it says so in plain words, right where it appears, and links back to this page. The words are Sponsor and Presented by. Business-written copy on a listing goes in its own section marked as written by the business. A booking link that could earn the site a commission gets a visible note saying so. No logo without a label, and no paid support described as “partner content” or left for you to guess.

If you ever find a paid placement without a label, please tell us. That is a bug, and we treat it as one.

Section 04

What a Sponsor Can Support

As of September 2026 none of the programs below has launched. This page is updated before the first one goes live, and it always describes what is actually running. These are the kinds of support the site will accept. None of them touches ranking, and every one of them is labeled as described above.

  • Presenting a seasonal guide. One sponsor per guide per season, named in a labeled band under the guide’s header and in the newsletter mentions of that guide. The guide’s picks are unchanged.
  • A labeled block in the weekly email. One clearly marked sponsor message per issue, separate from the editorial picks.
  • A verified partner profile.A business can keep its own hours, pricing, photos and a short “from the business” section current on its listing, shown with an “Updated by the business” chip. The editorial description and every verification check stay ours.
  • Affiliate booking links.Where a venue already sells tickets through a booking platform, a “Book” button may earn the site a small commission. It is marked as such and does not affect whether or where the venue is listed.

Today the site runs no display advertising. If that ever changes, this page changes first, and the rule above still holds: ranking stays unsold.

Section 05

How Clicks Are Counted

When the site works with a sponsor or partner, links to them carry UTM parameters and clicks on those links are counted in aggregate, so the business gets honest numbers. Those reports are totals, never a list of people. What the site collects about you, and what it does not, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Section 06
