About

The Peppermint Chop Shop is a haunted house that the McMahon-Alesi family builds at their home on Peppermint Road in Commack each Halloween. For 2026 it opens on two Saturday nights, October 24 and Halloween night, October 31, from 6:30 to 10 PM. The family promises live actors, spine-tingling displays, flame throwers, photo booths and giveaways. This is a haunted house after dark with live actors and flame throwers, so it will suit kids who enjoy a scare more than little ones. It has been billed as entertainment for all ages, so use your own judgment. Admission is free, with no tickets needed, and donations go to the Daniela Conte Foundation, which supports families affected by childhood cancer. In past years the family has arranged to close Peppermint Road to cars. This is a private home on a residential street, so visit only on the posted nights, and check the family's Facebook post or Instagram for updates before you go.
