About

Centennial Park is a two-acre community resource in Roosevelt, NY that offers a wonderful variety of recreational activities for families. This renovated park features a state-of-the-art playground equipped with eight swings, climbing apparatus, and slides—perfect for younger children to explore and play. The park also includes basketball courts with fiberglass backboards, tennis courts, a handball court, and picnic tables, making it an excellent destination for families interested in active recreation. Beyond the playground, Centennial Park boasts a dozen basketball hoops and multiple courts for various sports, offering activities for kids and teens of different ages and skill levels. The park has an interesting history—it's one of the earliest park properties owned and operated by Nassau County, acquired in 1938. Interestingly, basketball legend Julius Erving ("Doctor J") played at these courts as a youngster while growing up in the area. **Important Note**: Centennial Park is currently closed for renovations and will remain closed from January through March. Families should plan their visits accordingly and contact the park directly at 516-571-8695 for updates on reopening dates. The park features on-site staff and is accessible via the Southern State Parkway (Exit 21 South). There is no admission fee mentioned for this county park.
