Christopher Morley County Park
Christopher Morley County Park is a beautiful 98-acre park located in Roslyn-North Hills that offers something for every member of the family. Named after the prolific 20th-century author and man of letters, the park combines recreational activities with cultural and historical features, including the famous 'Knothole'—a charming cottage designed with a unique one-piece bathroom created by inventor Buckminster Fuller in 1936. Whether your family enjoys sports, nature, or exploring interesting historical sites, Christopher Morley has plenty to discover. Families with children will love the recently renovated playground featuring a variety of activities including a nontraditional climbing apparatus. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including ten indoor tennis courts, four basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, volleyball courts, handball/paddleball courts, and a 9-hole par-30 golf course. There's also a one-mile Fitness Trail with 20 exercise stations perfect for families looking to stay active, plus 30 acres of peaceful wooded nature trails ideal for leisurely walks or jogging. Beyond sports and play, Christopher Morley provides wonderful family experiences like picnicking in unreserved (first come, first served) or reserved areas with barbecue equipment, exploring nature trails where leashed dogs are welcome, and visiting the dog run located on the north side of the parking lot. The park also hosts a Farmer's Market on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. during mid-May through late November, adding a seasonal community gathering element to your visit. The park is easily accessible from the Long Island Expressway (Exit 36/Searingtown Road) and has on-site staff available at 516-571-8113 for questions. Picnic areas can be reserved in person beginning March 4, 2025 for the 2025 season, and the park is open year-round with the Fitness Trail and dog run available throughout all seasons.
