Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve

Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve is a 165-acre nature preserve in the wetlands of Riverhead, featuring a 1.1-mile loop trail around Sweezy Pond with a scenic wooden bridge. Families can hike through diverse habitats to spot Great Blue Herons, kingfishers, and other wildlife, while discovering remnants of the preserve's cranberry-farming history, including an old pump house. The preserve offers year-round outdoor exploration with changing seasonal attractions—summer brings the aroma of Sweet Pepper Bush, while winter reveals the pond more clearly through bare trees.
