Hempstead Lake State Park
Hempstead Lake State Park is a multiuse facility located in West Hempstead, NY on Long Island. The park offers year-round activities from sunrise to sunset and features 18 tennis courts, 6 pickleball courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, softball field, bridle trails for horseback riding, biking and hiking trails, shaded picnic areas, an observation deck overlooking Hempstead Lake, and a historic hand-carved wooden carousel. The park provides three bodies of freshwater accessible for fishing, an Environmental Education and Resiliency Center, and seasonal attractions including a carousel and gift shop. Visitors can enjoy boating, swimming, ice skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Event rentals are available for pavilions and shelters for various occasions.
