Fall Fishing Festival at Hempstead Lake

Hempstead Lake State Park hosts an annual Fall Family Freshwater Festival featuring free fishing with loaner rods and bait, casting instruction, and fish-cleaning services. Families can enjoy a children's casting for pumpkins contest, displays from the Department of Environmental Conservation and State Parks, and additional children's entertainment. The park stocks its South and McDonald ponds with brook and rainbow trout before the event.
