Freedom Jiu Jitsu
Freedom Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym on Medford Avenue in Patchogue with kids and adult martial arts classes focused on fitness, self-defense and community. The youth program is for kids ages 4 to 12 and is split by age: classes for ages 4 to 7 work on coordination, listening skills and basic movements, while ages 8 to 12 learn more detailed Jiu Jitsu techniques and positions and train in controlled rounds. Adults can start in fundamentals classes built for beginners and move up to regular classes with more advanced techniques and live training, and there are adult kickboxing classes too. Classes run mornings and evenings, no prior experience is needed, and the first class is free. The gym serves students from Patchogue, Holbrook, Holtsville, Shirley, Medford, Bohemia, Bayport and Yaphank.
