Blydenburgh County Park
Blydenburgh County Park spreads across 627 acres at the headwaters of the Nissequogue River, wrapped around Stump Pond. A 5.7 mile loop trail circles the water, carried over swampland by a boardwalk and blazed with white or blue arrows, and the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference runs guided hikes from its headquarters inside the park. Families come to fish, picnic, use the dog run and the playground, and launch a kayak or canoe by the rowboat rental area. Rowboat rentals generally run from mid May to Labor Day, and RV and tent sites are open to campers from April 1 through November 11. Guided tours of the 19th century Blydenburgh Farm and New Mill Historic District are offered Saturdays at 1:00 pm. A Suffolk County permit is required for horseback riding, and for picnic groups of ten or more.
