Grant Park
Grant Park is a beautiful 35-acre recreational complex in Hewlett that has been part of the Nassau County Park system since 1955. This comprehensive sports and family destination offers something for every age and activity level, making it an ideal spot for families looking to spend an active day outdoors on Long Island. The park features excellent facilities for athletic pursuits, including three basketball courts, four tennis courts, four handball/paddleball courts, and three convertible baseball/softball fields perfect for Little League games. For families seeking fitness and outdoor recreation, there are dedicated paths for jogging and bicycling around the scenic lake, plus workout stations featuring rowing and step climbing equipment. During winter months (weather permitting), visitors can enjoy ice skating on the park's rink. Young children will love the modern playground area, which is thoughtfully designed with separate sections for preschoolers, 4-to-8-year-olds, and 9-to-12-year-olds. A spray pool area provides refreshing fun during summer months through Labor Day. The park also offers picnic facilities with both unreserved and reserved picnic areas equipped with barbecue equipment—reserved areas require a Leisure Pass and fee, with 2025 reservations opening in person on March 4, 2025. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate access to the lake for freshwater fishing, and the scenic concrete path around the lake is perfect for leisurely family walks or jogs. With on-site staff available and convenient access via the Southern State Parkway, Grant Park provides a well-maintained, family-friendly environment for outdoor recreation.
