The Adventure Park at Long Island
The Adventure Park at Long Island is a self-guided outdoor adventure park featuring tree-to-tree ropes courses, ziplines, and climbing challenges set among the trees at 75 Colonial Springs Rd in Wheatley Heights. The main courses are for ages 7 and up, with a separate Adventure Playground area for ages 3–6. General Admission (ages 14+) starts at $69 online ($79 at window) for 3 hours of climbing plus 30 minutes of orientation. Junior tickets (ages 7–13) are $59 online ($69 at window). An All Day Adventure Pass is available for $74 online ($99 at window). The Adventure Playground for ages 3–6 is $15 for one hour. Last Call tickets (ages 7+) offer 2 hours of climbing for $57. 15% discounts are available for teachers, military, first responders, seniors, and college students. Groups of 10+ qualify for special rates, and season passes offer unlimited climbing for a full year. Birthday party packages are also available. Hours vary by season. Summer (late June–Labor Day): daily, 10 AM–6 PM Sun–Wed, 10 AM–10 PM Thu–Sat. Spring: Fri–Sun only. Last check-in is 2.5 hours before closing. Check the website for the current schedule.

Taste Buds Kitchen Smithtown is a cooking studio on West Main Street where kids and families cook and bake from scratch alongside a chef instructor. Kids and family classes cover ages 2 to 17: caregiver and me classes for ages 2 to 8 (the caregiver's spot is included in the price), family classes for ages 6 to 17 where kids and adults each get a spot at the table, and drop-off kids classes for ages 4 to 17, offered as single sessions or as a weekly series. The studio also hosts kids birthday parties for ages 3 to 17, field trips for schools and scout troops, and gingerbread house decorating in the holiday season, and it runs summer and school break cooking camps. Classes are offered seven days a week, and all menus are nut-free. Adult classes are on the calendar too.
Kidz Course is an indoor play space on Larkfield Road in East Northport, with an enclosed play area where kids can climb, explore and play. Open play is booked in 90-minute sessions three ways: Stay & Play, where you play alongside your child; Drop & Play, where staff watch your child while you run errands or get to an appointment; and Work & Play, where you work on site while staff supervise the play area. Each open play visit comes with a snack and juice box for kids and coffee for caregivers, and memberships cover unlimited open play during regular hours (drop-off not included). Kidz Course also runs morning toddler classes and after-school classes, a School's Out Series on days off from school (10:00 am to 2:00 pm with pizza lunch, plus before and after care), and private birthday parties with themes like Ninja Kidz obstacle challenges, Kidz Bop, Glam Spa, Slime Time, Music & Motion and Science Kidz. They also bring obstacle course and craft parties to backyards and event spaces. Socks are required, and weekend open play times change week to week, so check their homepage before you go.
Timber Point Golf Course in Great River has three nines, named Red, White and Blue, with a pro shop, a driving range and lessons from teaching pro Ed Sallie. The course has junior golf, leagues and outings, and no one under the age of 5 is permitted on the course.
The 9 at Merrick is a nine-hole, par-36 course of more than 3,200 yards, set just east of the Meadowbrook Parkway and south of Merrick Road, with elevated greens and welcoming fairways. A practice putting green helps players warm up, and the pro shop offers golf equipment and attire along with personal instruction from a certified PGA teaching professional. Merrick is also one of the Golf Channel Academy's locations.
