The Town of Brookhaven Special Recreation Summer Camp is a specialized program designed for children with special needs ages 5-11 who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The camp operates Monday through Friday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Harold Malkmes Wildlife Education and Ecology Center in Holtsville. Activities include games, art, crafts, and daily swimming. Registration is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis; the camp costs $87.
Baiting Hollow Scout Camp is owned and operated by the Suffolk County Council, Scouting America, and has served the scouting community since 1926. Located on Long Island's North Shore with access to a freshwater lake and beachfront on Long Island Sound, the camp offers year-round programs including Winter, Spring, and Summer Camp sessions, COPE and climbing wall activities, family camping, and leadership training for Scouts BSA, Cub Scouts, Venture Crews, and Exploring Posts.
