When should I book summer camp on Long Island?
Earlier than feels reasonable. Long Island families start looking in January, and the popular sessions and specialty camps fill through late winter and spring. Town camps tend to open registration in the spring, usually with resident priority. If you are reading this in April you are not out of luck, but start calling.
How much do Long Island day camps cost?
It is a wide range, and it depends on whether you are looking at a town-run day camp, a private one, or a specialty camp that charges by the week. We do not publish a price for every camp. Where the camp states its rates, the listing shows a cost range, and many listings also carry session dates. Where it does not, the listing links out to the camp's own site. Prices change every year, so confirm before you budget.
Are there town-run camps?
Yes. Set the operator filter to Town-Run to see the ones we have verified. Most Nassau and Suffolk towns run a summer day camp for residents, and they are usually the most affordable route, though they book on the town's own calendar and generally ask for proof of residency.
